- [How do I transfer my cherished plate?](https://www.rovemotorhomes.co.uk/blog/faqs/how-do-i-transfer-my-cherished-plate/): If you have a cherished plate which you’d like to transfer over to your new motorhome, there’s a set procedure to follow. Firstly, put your cherished plate on retention, which releases it from the current vehicle and frees it up for assignment to a new vehicle. When you’ve completed the purchase and collected your motorhome we’ll register the motorhome in your name and the DVLA will process. They’ll send the new log book to your registered address, and once you’ve received it in your name you can transfer your cherished plate onto the new motorhome.

If you passed your test after January 1st, 1997, you can still drive a motorhome weighing up to 3500kg, but if you need to drive between 3500kg and 7500kg you will need to undertake a medical assessment and pass your C1.
