Developed around the dependable Fiat Ducato platform, the Free range provides the freedom and manoeuvrability of a panel van while incorporating the essential comforts needed for touring. The HYMER Free 600 Campus (2020) is a particularly desirable special edition, combining its distinctive two-tone styling with a generous specification, including a pop-top roof, 16-inch alloy wheels, cruise control and a 140bhp Fiat Ducato engine. Measuring approximately 5.99m in length, 2.08m in width and around 2.70m in height, it has a maximum permissible mass of 3,300kg, with 3,500kg available as an option, making it an extremely versatile campervan for both everyday driving and longer adventures.

Starting at the rear of the campervan, the Free 600 Campus features a clever rear sleeping and storage area. The rear bed can be folded upwards when not required, opening up valuable space for luggage, outdoor equipment and other touring essentials. When it’s time to settle down for the evening, the bed provides a generous and comfortable sleeping area, making excellent use of the vehicle’s compact footprint. The rear section also benefits from useful storage solutions, allowing you to carry everything you need without compromising the living space.

Moving forward, you’ll find the integrated bathroom, which is impressively practical for a campervan of this size. The clever design incorporates a toilet, washbasin and shower facilities, with the washroom fittings designed to make maximum use of the available space. Hymer’ s thoughtful approach means that essential facilities are available without making the interior feel cramped.

Opposite and slightly forward, the kitchen area provides everything required for preparing meals and refreshments while travelling. The Free 600 Campus features a generous 90-litre refrigerator, together with cooking facilities, sink, worktop space and useful storage for provisions and kitchen equipment. This makes it perfectly suited to everything from a quick breakfast before heading out for the day to preparing a proper evening meal.

Continuing towards the front, the comfortable lounge and dining area provides a bright and sociable space. The living-area bench combines with the swivel cab seats to create a practical place for relaxing, dining or simply enjoying a coffee while planning the next day’s adventure. The Campus edition’s bright interior, with white locker doors, silver-effect details and coordinated upholstery and flooring, gives the living space a particularly modern and welcoming feel.

One of the standout features of the Campus is the black pop-top sleeping roof, which dramatically increases the versatility of the campervan. The additional double bed allows the Free 600 Campus to accommodate up to four people, making it an excellent option for couples who want extra sleeping space or families looking for a compact touring vehicle. The Campus also benefits from an ISOFIX child-seat attachment on the living-area bench, further enhancing its family-friendly credentials.

At the very front, the Fiat Ducato cab provides a comfortable and enjoyable driving environment. The Campus specification includes a 140bhp engine, cruise control, cab air conditioning, leather steering wheel, LED daytime running lights, fog lights and 16-inch alloy wheels, giving the vehicle an impressive combination of comfort, style and usability.
